SAT. 4/14 AT THE COMPUTER

Due to the Washington Post article today will be spent near a computer so that emails and comments can be addressed immediately.

I just saw your Post story. Eat, brother. Your voice is more effective than your life.

Your efforts are very noble and the Post article was a good one and should bring even more attention to your efforts. Remember what you said, though: "What I'm doing is not clever." You can't be an effective martyr for this if you're dead. Take care of your body and keep yourself nourished. Then, you can help others see what you do. Be well.

The article says that you left your family. When was the last time that you spoke to them?

I have been concerned about the Darfur situation for years. Your sacrifice inspired me to send another email to the White House. If everyone in the country just sent one email, the imperative to act would be felt by our leaders. Everyone is too worried about mean comments by talk show hosts and celebrity drug treatments to be aware of what is really happening in the world.

Thank you for bringing our attention to this horrible, continuing situation. Please do not starve yourself completely. Your voice is needed.

Reading about you made me think of this song. I hope it gives you encouragement:

Kind Word
from the album "Avocado Faultline"
Words & Music by Terry Scott Taylor
©2000 Zoom Daddy Music (BMI)
Chorus:
Kind word
Lookin' for a kind word in a
dark world
under a mean spell
The golden rule is
you get what you give
So I'll wish you well
Make sure you have heard
a kind word
Kind word

I know it isn't much
but a blade of grass
can crack the pavement
And if enough of us
would go against the grain
in time we'd be a green field
dressed in God's own
finest raiment
soakin' up the sunshine
and laughing in the rain

(Chorus)

I see the cardboard boxes,
the fragile houses of the lost
I see the endless line of crosses
carved by hands of hate and war
I see the broken children
fists of blinding rage
have tossed us
Can we start with just
this little thing
that may lead to something more?

(Chorus)

They say a single prayer
can move a mountain
and I know a little faith
can turn the tide
The need to love
and to be loved
can soon become a fountain
that forms a river flowin'
deep and wide

What will it take to free us
from distant hearts
and downcast eyes
To see the face of Jesus
in a stranger on the street?
Who will water seeds of Holiness
In someone we've despised
Will heaven tell
ours were the words
that washed His hands and feet?

You are by far the most brave of any activist for Darfur to date. I understand that you will not be convinced to eat, and I hope that you may live to see the day when true action is taken to stop the genocide in Darfur. Thank you.

I, too, hope we will "harness the energies of love" before we destroy this earth and all its people. I have been concerned about Darfur for a long time now, and more concerned that the dark side of history is repeating itself once more with the approval of most. I believe you are strong, sincere and have heart. I hope you catch the eyes and hearts of many more, as you did my eyes and heart, first thing this morning. I will participate somehow to help allieviate the unnecessary misery in Darfur. Thank you for your kindness and selflessness. Ann Marie Abernathy (annmarieabernathy@comcast.net)

You callenge is very commendable and brave. And you are bringing the attention to this situation that is so terrible. So what your doing is working, thats wonderful.
The problem that I have is that you say that "you can do nothing less".What your doing is so much. Your willing to sacrifice your life for this cause. But it seems like you could be more effective using other methods then your personel sacrifice. Your an smart guy. There's has to be a better way to attack this situation then by sacrificing yourself. Please eat man so that you can keep your voice and your actions strong in this fight.

Hi Start. I was reading something in "Think and Grow Rich" this morning and it struck me that it fits here. It was by living with a success consiousness vs a failure consciousness. Please eat and keep yourself healthy so that you can continue to bring attention to this cause that is so important to you and so many.

Dear brothers and sisters,

Couner to my plan I spent 12 hours from early morning in front of the Embassy. After a few emails I expect to return there for many weeks uninterrupted so this may be my last communique to you. Virtually every thing you address is covered in one of four places:
1. Look at the upper left of this page. APRIL 14th ARTICLES.
2. March 13th Press Release lower on this blog, and letter to el-Bashir.
3. Click my Profile and select BrigadeOfPeaceMakers:Darfur. Explore this thoroughly.

This is not a brush off. To the contrary I respect your thoughts and the time that went into this writing was in anticipation of your needs and desired.

Loving you always, Start
